As a result of losing face-to-face teacher contact time due to the pandemic, we have made the decision to cancel Year 12 Work Experience week in July and support students in completing virtual work experience instead. Therefore, normal lessons will take place during the 5th-9th of July and all students will be expected to attend school.
Year 12 students will be starting their Post 18 applications soon, therefore all students will benefit from engaging in the many virtual experiences being offered. We also recognise that some students who are applying for a medical related course may still want to source a face-to-face experience where available and in line with any Government guidelines at the time of applying.
Year 12 Tutors will be supporting students to secure virtual work experience and all students have been provided with a list of opportunities that they can apply for now (Please see a copy of the resources and support Year 12 have received already below). The Sixth Form team would welcome your support in checking that your son/daughter has applied for virtual work experience and if they are finding this difficult, please contact their tutor.
Student Guidance: Year 12 Work Experience Opportunities
Use the following links to organise virtual work experience. It is essential that all Year 12 complete work experience before the end of this academic year. Your form tutor will be starting to draft your reference for future employment and university applications; therefore, we advise all Year 12 students to try and complete work experience during February half term. At the end of this document, you will find instructions of how to record details of your placement on Unifrog so that your form tutor knows about it and you can refer back to it when you start to complete any applications or interviews.
