Y11 into Y12 Transition

A range of tasks have been created to support students transition from Year 11 into Year 12. There is an expectation that this work will be completed by all students wishing to join our Sixth Form in September. The quality of this work will indicate your suitability to study a particular subject, therefore, make sure that you complete tasks to your full capability.

General Transition Work:

Prior to June half-term, all students were e-mailed a 4 week programme which included general transition tasks in order to develop their independent study skills (students currently in Yr 11 at JTHS had this work set on Go4Schools). The programme included:

Week 1: Note-taking, with particular focus on Cornell Notes
Week 2: Note-taking using Cornell Notes when listening to Podcasts/TED Talks
Week 3: The importance of setting goals and having a clear destination Post 18
Week 4: Independent Learning and continuing with Post 18 pathways research

If you didn’t receive this information, please e-mail Miss Spurrier (Sixth Form Administrator) to receive a copy.

Subject Specific Transition:

A 4 week, subject specific programme has been designed to support students bridge the gap between GCSE and A level. Please select the subjects that you intend to study in September and complete the tasks set. These resources will be updated each week.
