School Direct

School Direct is an exciting and innovative one year school led training programme, which enables schools to take a leading role in ITT but still work in partnership with accredited providers. We work collaboratively on the selection and recruitment of trainees as well as the design and delivery of an outstanding programme. At the NFTS our School Direct programme is a one year full time route into teaching which will enable successful trainees to achieve QTS with a Post Graduate Certificate of Education, or QTS with Masters level credits. Subject to vacancies and performance throughout the course we would aim to employ successful NQTs within our alliance of primary and secondary schools. Our second cohort of trainees has just left us and have all been successful in gaining employment, many within the Alliance. This is School Direct at its best, supporting us in our aim to attract the best teachers to our local area.

School Centred Initial Teacher Training

If you are a graduate and would prefer to do your training in a school environment, then SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) is for you. In July 2014 John Taylor High School was accredited as a centre for School Centred Initial Teacher Training and we are excited about building upon our already successful School Direct programme which we deliver in partnership with local universities. Trainees on our School Direct SCITT programmes will not only have the benefit of extensive practical experience within our partnership of schools, but will also have the advantage of a professional studies programme and a subject knowledge for teaching programme delivered by outstanding practitioners from our alliance.
