English Schools Track and Field Cup

Over 50 JTHS pupils competed on Tuesday in the English Schools Track and Field Cup. This was the first round of the competition and schools in Staffordshire were competing to try and get through to the Regional stages of the competiton. JTHS competed against King Edward VI School, Tettenhall College and Lichfield Cathedral School.  It was the first year JTHS have entered this Athletics competition and it will definitely not be our last.
The teams were made up of Junior Girls (yr7&8). Junior Boys (yr7&8), Intermediate Girls (yr9&10) and Intermediate Boys (yr9&10).  The difference with the English Schools Track and Field Cup is that all athletes compete as part of a team and their times and distances equate to points against the English Schools standard times. We were restricted to 14 per team, meaning athletes had to compete in more than one event. 30 points was the maximum each athlete could achieve.
We had some fantastic competitors across all the age groups, you will see from the results attached how well everyone contributed to the team, particularly all pupils who managed to get 20+ points for their teams. The Junior Girls team and Intermediate Girls Teams finished 1st and will now progress onto the Regional round of the competition, with eyes set on the National Finals. Well done to all athletes involved, you showed personal excellence in abundance and perseverance throughout all the events.
