Year 11 Prom
It is with regret that we have to inform you that the venue, Pirelli Stadium, have informed us that they have taken the decision to cancel our Year 11 Prom due to the current guidelines in place from the UK Government.
We understand that this will be disappointing but unfortunately, due to the circumstances out of our control we are unable to support an event that would contravene Government guidelines. With such uncertainty around the current situation we are not in a position to re-arrange this event.
Mr Thompson has prepared a short video message for Year 11 students as we wanted to make a more personal address to inform students directly. The video can be accessed using the link below:
We are grateful for the opportunity we had on the day of the enforced school closures to get the Year 11 cohort together and celebrate the end of the year with them. Whatever your next steps hold, we wish you all the very best.
Last week, students were able to learn about how to use the Cornell method of note-taking from what they have read. This week, students are required to develop their note-taking skills on what they have heard.
Students will listen to a video, aimed at Sixth Form students, explaining the Chimp Paradox by Professor Steve Peters. The video will help students understand some of their own behavior, especially if they are involved in sport or like to perform at a high level in anything – so it is very useful, whatever subject they may be taking.
Please remind your son/daughter that they will need to keep a copy of their Cornell notes, on the Chimp Paradox, in their 'Passport to Sixth Form' folder.
Message from Mandy Allibone from Teen Spirit.
We understand this is surreal and anxious times for us all. With this in mind we have created an Instagram account for teenagers to access support from us. They can private message us, ask questions, ask advice on confidence, self-esteem, social media, relationships and sexual health also see our positive advice posts.
Our Instagram is teenspiritscc if you could pass this on to 13 – 16 year olds, it’s another source for you to access for support.
