Our Head of School, Mrs Cochrane, will deliver a welcome talk at 6:30pm and repeated at 7:15pm. Following each welcome talk, children and parents/carers will also be able to take a tour of the school to see some of the staff and pupils who will be showcasing all that our school has to offer. The school site will be open between 6:15pm and 9:00pm. Parking is available on site with additional parking in the main village car park.

Open Week - Monday 21st to Friday 25th October
In addition to the Open Evening, we provide the opportunity for guided tours during the school day in the week of Open Evening. Places are limited to three per family and by prior arrangement only. If you would like to book one of these tours, please contact main reception on 01283 247800.
Early Closure for Open Evening – Thursday 24th October. School will close at 1.10 pm
Friday 25th October is a normal school day.
The half term break is Monday, 28th October – Friday 1st November.
We are holding our Open Evening for parents of Year 6 children on Thursday 24th October – 6.30 pm-9.00 pm.
The school will close at 1.10 pm in order to provide time for staff to prepare rooms, displays and experiments. Bus companies have been notified and buses will be departing from school shortly after 1.10pm. At the end of lesson 4 all pupils catching buses should go straight to the bus queues.
Pupils receiving free school meals may, if they wish, get their food from the canteen, at morning break. A reminder will be in the daily pupil bulletin.
If your son or daughter has volunteered to help out on this evening, please ensure she/he has returned the appropriate permission slip (supplied by the teacher) and turns up in full school uniform. They should check with the teacher they are helping what times they are needed for.

Who is eligible?
The 16–19 Bursary Fund is a government-provided, means-tested fund available to support students who have difficulty in meeting costs relating to their studies. To qualify, you must be under 19 years of age on 31st August in the academic year in which you start your programme of study, and you will be expected to provide evidence of personal and/or financial hardship. Each case will be assessed individually, however, usually this would be based on a household income of £25,000 or less, plus any benefits you are in receipt of at this point in time.
For further information, please see the guidance and application form by clicking the following link https://jths.co.uk/16-19-bursary
Students are allowed to use a graphical calculator for their exams, although it is not a requirement and students are able to access all the material using their standard Scientific calculators in the past Further Maths students have particularly found this beneficial to them for a number of topics studied in this course. Some students have asked if we can purchase them for them from our educational suppliers and we are able to for £72. If you wish to order one please purchase by Friday 18th October through Parent Pay. Orders after this date cannot be accepted.
Pupils who are currently in Y12 and who sat their GCSEs here at John Taylor in the summer, will have received a letter, via their form tutor, with details of our GCSE Presentation Evening.
This will take place on WEDNESDAY 20TH NOVEMBER at 7pm.
Parents are also invited to attend to help celebrate the achievements of the year group which was particularly successful at GCSE.
Please encourage your son/daughter to reply to the invitation promptly either by handing in their reply slip or by email [email protected]
There will be a seating plan for pupils, who will then be called up in groups to collect their certificates. Therefore, it's important that we know whether or not they are attending. Seating for parents/guests is unallocated.
Interested in applying for Medicine? – Free seminars to support your application.
Get invaluable insights from qualified doctors at this free seminar series, focusing on different interview styles and approaches. Due to popular demand, the series will consist of two evening dates in Birmingham on November 27th, 2019, and January 23rd, 2020. Both events will start at 5.00pm until 7.00pm. The event is free to attend for students and parents, thanks to the sponsorship of the University of Nicosia Medical School. Students under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult. Birmingham events will take place in the Noble Room, The University of Birmingham, Birmingham B152TT.
