Class of 2023 - End of term arrangements
We are rapidly approaching the summer exam season and have been continuing our 'Supporting Success' theme with our Year 11 Cohort.
Last year we launched a bespoke ‘Pre-Exam’ timetable for our Y11 cohort, we have reviewed feedback from parents, students and staff and have refined our approach for this year. We strongly believe that by allowing our students to have access to highly qualified subject specialist teachers throughout the examination period it will give the students the best chance of success.
The ‘Pre-Exam’ timetable will commence from Monday 15th May and will run through to the final exam on Tuesday 20th June.
Throughout the exams season, we host GCSE and A Level exams. There are a number of occasions where GCSE exams finish earlier than A Level exams so we ask that all students are respectful to the students who are still completing exams and make their way from the exam venue as quickly and quietly as possible.
Please click on the additional articles to read more about the arrangements for specific dates and celebration events planned for Year 11.
The principles of the ‘Pre-Exam’ Timetable are as follows:
- Before school morning pre-exam briefings will be available for every AM exam. They will start at 8am and finish by 8:45am. A small breakfast offer will be available each morning, but we would ask that students bring their own drink.
- Students wishing to attend the pre-exam briefings before school will be required to sign up to each session they wish to attend using the link below:

- After morning exams between Monday 15th May and Thursday 8th June students are expected to return to normal lessons once the exam has finished.
- Between Monday 15th May and Thursday 8th June, PM exams will have a pre-exam briefing during period 4. These will be compulsory for all students to attend.
- Between Monday 15th May and Thursday 8th June, when students are not in exams or pre-exam briefings students will be attending normal lessons. Where the subject has exams remaining, the lessons will be focused on preparing for remaining exams. Where the subject has completed all examined units, English, Maths and Science will be providing materials to support revision for the core subjects.
- Requests to study at home during this period (15th May to 8th June) will not be authorised and therefore will result in unauthorised attendance marks.
- On Thursday 8th June the Upper School Team will host a celebration afternoon. Attendance at this event will be determined by student behaviour between Easter and the event.
All students MUST use the link above to make a return so we can plan for pre-exam briefings and supervised study.
- From Friday 9th June, students will be permitted to study from home when they do not have an exam.
- Students will only be required to be in school for their timetabled exams and Pre-Exam briefings (if they have signed up).
- Students will not be required to attend normal lessons.
- Students, with parental permission, can leave school site after exams. This can be done using the form link below. Please select the appropriate option, by informing school that your child can leave school site you will be assuming parental responsibility for them.
- If you would like your child to remain in school please select the dates of the supervised study sessions you wish for them to attend.

Celebration Events
We have been very impressed with the behaviour of our Year 11 cohort this year, especially during the trial exams in December and March. They have conducted themselves exceptionally well and we hope this continues until the end of the summer exam season.
We have planned a celebration assembly on Thursday 8th June as this is one of the last occasions that the whole cohort will be able to celebrate with staff. We also hope it will provide a valuable boost to them during the exam season. During this afternoon students will be able to sign shirts. In order to do this we ask that students bring in a spare shirt for the occasions. Shirt signing at any other time will not be permitted. Students are expected to be in full school uniform.
We also have the Year 11 Prom to look forward to. Both of these events are invite only events, we do hope that all students will continue to behave in a positive way so that they remain invited to attend.
The Year 11 Prom will take place on Friday 23rd June at Branston Golf and Country Club. Student tickets are available to purchase via Parentpay. All tickets must be purchased via Parentpay before 4pm on Thursday 25th May. Tickets are priced at £25 and will include a buffet and photobooth at the venue.
The venue will be providing security, and this will include bag checks on arrival. The venue is a non-smoking and non-vaping site, any students in breach of these rules will be asked to be collected by parents.
Once students have arrived and are in the venue students will not be permitted to leave and re-enter.
Arrival is 7pm and last carriages will be 10:30pm.
Expectations
Between Wednesday 26th April and the end of the exams we will be monitoring the behaviour, attendance and punctuality of Y11 students very closely. We will continue to record behaviour incidents on Go4Schools. During this period we will also be operating a Green, Amber and Red card system.
- Green Card- Warning.
- Amber Card- Loss of one celebration invite (Prom or Assembly).
- Red Card- Loss of both celebration invites (Prom and Assembly).
If a card is issued to your child, you will receive a letter directing you to review the behaviour logs on Go4Schools which will detail the reasons why. Cards will be issued by Upper School and the Senior Leadership Team based on entries on Go4Schools.
We sincerely hope we are not in the position to rescind invites to events as we do very much look forward to celebrating with all of our students.
