Warwick Scholars 2023 Applications OPEN!
We are contacting you to let you know that applications for the free online London Med Schools Summer Programme 2023 are now open. This programme is for Year 12 students living in England (outside of Greater London), who have only attended non-selective state schools since age 11 and are currently studying A-level biology and chemistry. For more details on student eligibility, you can visit our website or access the application form here.
Funded by Health Education England, the London Med Schools Summer Programme brings together four of London’s medical schools (King’s College London, Queen Mary University of London, St George’s University of London, and University College London) to give 75 Year 12 students from across England an opportunity to find out what it is like to study medicine in London. Working with patients and student ambassadors, participants will gain a greater understanding of the realities of being a doctor and the skills needed to succeed.
The main summer school programme takes place from Monday 17th July to Friday 21st July on Zoom. There will also be additional events delivered in conjunction with the summer school which are detailed on the application form.
For more information and to apply, students should follow this link.
The deadline to apply is 9am on Monday 27th March 2023.
This programme is part of a series of events run with the Medical and Dental Schools Council. Please see here for a full list of the programmes available across England.
The following students celebrate their achievements with Mrs Cochrane this week, congratulations to them all!

The school has made the decision not to renew the contract with Century Tech. This was a platform used mostly by Maths and Science. In order to avoid disruption to student's examination provision the Science and Maths teams will be directing students to alternative online platforms as well as providing internal access to revision resources. Please see the information below from the Faculty Leaders of Maths and Science.
Science
Pupils can access Seneca Learn to lead their own learning through revision. To access this, pupils will need to go to Free Homework & Revision for A Level, GCSE, KS3 & KS2 (senecalearning.com)
See document attached.
Pupils can select the course and topics they want to revise.
We also advise using BBC bitesize for ‘inputting’ the knowledge, as well as the video series ‘Free Science Lessons’ and then select your topic (done via google search). Two topics added as exemplars
GCSE Science Revision Biology "Osmosis" - Bing video
Osmosis - Transport in cells - AQA - GCSE Combined Science Revision - AQA Trilogy - BBC Bitesize
To access lots of exam practice, we advise using Physics and Maths Tutor. Physics Revision - PMT (physicsandmathstutor.com)
You can select GCSE, course and topic to practice. They also have a full set of mark schemes.
To access AQA specific exam practice, pupils should use the following link, AQA | Subjects | Science | GCSE then choose your course and the tab ‘Assessment Materials’.
Maths
Maths already subscribe to My Maths – every student has their own log-in where work can be set by the staff and students can choose to do tasks independently as part of revision when they identify areas of concerns. MyMaths contains lessons slides and will mark work there and then.
In addition, every student now has a log-in to Dr Frost Maths; staff are beginning to build this into their practice with one class at a time but students are able to use with without guidance. Students can search for specific areas, practise basic skill questions or past exam questions. Most of these have accompanying videos for revision purposes and students get a fully worked solution after each answer; staff are able to monitor progress of specific skills even if they have not specifically set the task.
We are pleased to be able share with you the intervention schedule for Year 11.
The sessions coloured in Green are targeted sessions for invited students based on current academic information and identified knowledge gaps. Students will have been informed by their classroom teacher, subject leader or faculty leader if they are required to attend these sessions.
The sessions coloured in Purple are whole cohort sessions that are open to all students across the year group.
Some subjects are running interventions within lesson time and are supporting students within the classroom.
Please be advised that Post 16 transport to school is not funded. If you have any questions regarding post-16 transport, please contact Staffordshire County Council directly.
Draft post-16 transport statement 2023-24
Staffordshire County Council are required to consult on their post-16 travel statement each year.
Read the draft statement for the year September 2023 to July 2024.
