U14 Girls Football start strong!

  featured image

Following the success of the U13's getting to the county final last season, our U14's were keen to make a positive start against their first opponents in the County Cup. We travelled to Painsley school on Tuesday 4th October and were ready to get going. We started the first half very strongly, going 6 goals up by half time. We went from strength to strength in the second half and extended our lead to 10. At full time, the team had beat Painsley 10-1, in an extremely convincing win. Special mention to Martha (3 goals), Ella (4 goals) & Seren (2 goals) Well done to the team, outstanding performance!

Lower School - Praise and Reward

Lower School have launched an additional praise opportunity with ‘Team of the week’. Each week tutors of years 7,8 and 9, will nominate one student from their form for one of the schools values; Kindness, Integrity, Perseverance and Respect. This is to recognise as many students as we can for demonstrating our core values. The following week the students will receive a certificate, merit and potentially sweet treat. If your child receives a merit/certificate with ‘Team of the week’ on that is why! Please reiterate this praise at home.

Upper School - Praise and Reward

Praise and Reward – Upper School

Upper school heads of year have introduced a new reward system, recognising those students in Years 10 and 11 who display the characteristics expected of John Taylor students. These are Respect, Kindness, Perseverance and Integrity.

We asked students, who had been nominated by their tutors, to come and share a drink and treat with us in Upper school office. We look forward to continuing with this opportunity to not only reward excellent behaviour but also spend time with students who demonstrate what we stand for as a school.

Mr Thompson and Mr Forden will continue to seek recommendations weekly from tutors and hope that the students chosen will share this with you.

All - School Crossing Patrol - Vacancies and warning about unattended crossings

Staffordshire County Council School Crossing Service are currently recruiting for crossing patrols for the Barton and Yoxall areas. Please see the vacancy advert below.

They have also advised us of the following and asked us to make parents aware:

Please be advised that after the retirement of Mr Cook, the crossing point on Dunstall Road/Main Street is currently being covered by a relief school crossing patrol, we usually only cover for a couple of weeks with a relief then the crossing point is left unattended, we are trying to cover this up to the October half term school break, after this we will not be able to cover this crossing point. In the meantime, should another crossing point need a relief, we will need to take this patrol off Dunstall Road, to be utilised elsewhere and this can be at a moment’s notice.

Please can you inform all parents, guardians, and children of this and please ask them to cross with care and caution if there is not a patrol on duty.
