Race for Life 2022
A huge thank you to everyone who donated, supported, and joined our first Race for Life on 26th June. Also, thank you to the House Leaders and Sporting Ambassadors who kindly supported the event with marshalling and organising a warm-up.
It was a brilliant morning full of smiles, music, and ice cream! Overall, the Race for Life has raised a total of £1641.00 for Cancer Research!
Thank you again – your support and time will mean a lot to many people. Our ‘Just Giving’ page doesn’t close until the end July so there is still time to donate if you can!

There are a number of concerning videos that regularly circulate on TikTok. Have you ever thought about how many times a day something concerning could be watched by our children and young people? Have you ever wondered if your child is involved in sharing or producing concerning material?
It is clear from some of the online content that messages about not identifying yourself, your school or providing your location does get through to all of our children and young people, however the anonymous material is still equally as accessible despite not knowing the origins.
To support you as parents to manage the risks that TikTok poses to our community, within school and outside of it, the Safeguarding in Schools Bulletin have recommended these two articles to help you as parents understand and respond to the risks.

Please be informed that students in year 7 will be completing Progress Tests in Maths and English from the week beginning 4th July. These are similar to the assessments that were completed in the Autumn term but they will be completed in their regular lessons with their subject teachers.
These assessments use nationally standardised tests to support schools in identifying individual student needs and potential gaps in their knowledge. They are completed by all schools across the John Taylor MAT. The maths tests are designed to assess key aspects of maths such as shape, number and mathematical concepts (like money place value and time). The English tests assess key aspects of English such as spelling, grammar, punctuation and reading comprehension. As such students cannot ‘revise’ for these tests and should not worry about them; please reinforce this with your children. These test will not replace our regular internal class-based assessments which your son or daughter may also be completing this half term.
The timetable for these assessments can be viewed on the link below:

On the 23rd June a group of Seven A level Business students travelled to Birmingham University to take part in the CIPFA Sixth Form Management Games. All students were allocated different roles within the Senior management team of the fictional Midbourne Council. Some of the roles included CEO, Director of Finance and Director of Neighbourhood Services.
The games were split into two rounds. The first round was to write a report showing how the council would save £5 million for the forthcoming year. This was done through careful consideration, between the group, of the needs of the local area, making sure the changes that they were planning on were good for the local area but also recognising the impacts that these would then have on the community and the workers of the department.
The second round involved students completing a presentation to the councillors, persuading them to back a referendum on increasing council tax by 4%. After the presentation, they were faced with demanding questions from the councillors which they handled very professionally and calmy.
Throughout the two rounds they experienced lots of different interruptions which they were required to action as soon as possible in the time limit given. These included 3 students having to meet an angry Trade Union Official, reacting to the press responding to rumours of their intended plans and trying to increase motivation across the workforce within the council.
Well done to Callum, Jemima, Rupert, Imogen, Mia, Amelia and Joe who managed to complete all tasks successfully and acted very professionally throughout the day!
