When children and young people with symptoms should stay at home and when they can return to education
Children and young people with mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat, or slight cough, who are otherwise well, can continue to attend their education setting.
Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people, where they can. They can go back to school, college or childcare, and resume normal activities when they no longer have a high temperature and they are well enough to attend.
Children and young people aged 18 years and under who have a positive test result
It is not recommended that children and young people are tested for COVID-19 unless directed to by a health professional.
If a child or young person has a positive COVID-19 test result they should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days after the day they took the test, if they can.

Changes to Punctuality and consequences in effect from 25th April 2022
Arriving at school on time for morning registration sets our students up for a positive start to the day. Morning registration time is an essential part of the school's wider offer of RSHE, Personal Development and assembly provision. Alongside the educational importance of morning registration, the daily check in with a form tutor and opportunity for key information to be shared is important for all of our students.
Therefore we are reinforcing that students must be on site by 8:55am to ensure they arrive with their form tutor by 9am.
As of the 25th April any students arriving on site after 8.55am must enter the school grounds via Palmer Close.
Students will then be registered at the gate by staff before proceeding on to Registration.
Students who arrive late on site will receive an L mark on the register.
Students who arrive on time but fail to go to tutor and are missing from Registration without permission will receive an L mark on the register.
Where a student is late twice in a week parents will receive a message via schoolzine.
Where a student is late three times a week they will be issued with a 15minute detention to be served after school on the next Monday in U8. Parents will be notified via schoolzine. Students will be reminded in Monday Registration.
If a student is late due to public transport issues or attending an appointment please contact the absence line where you can leave a message and this will be reflected in their mark.
If a student is late six times in a half term a letter will be sent to parents, if they are late ten times a further letter will be sent and the student will undertake a punctuality intervention. If a student is late fifteen times in a half term parents will be required to attend a meeting in school.
Thank you to all parents and carers for your continued support regarding attendance and punctuality particularly over the last 2 years.

Bourne & Co, Chartered Accountants in Burton-on-Trent - Apprentice Accountant
The apprenticeship will suit someone with good Maths and English skills. Good IT skills would also be useful.
The apprenticeship opportunity will see the individual study initially for the AAT Qualification (Association of Accounting Technicians) up to and including Level 4 (which is roughly equivalent to the first year of a degree) with then the opportunity to study further up to a Level 7 Apprenticeship (which is the equivalent of a postgraduate degree level) to become a Chartered Accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales which is an extremely highly regarded qualification.
This apprenticeship opportunity provides a career path into the profession for someone who does not wish to go to University and build up the Student Loans that are associated with that. Instead, they will “Earn and Learn” and obtain valuable practical experience along the way making them more useful to Employers.
If interested please email CV to [email protected] to start June/July 2022.
Throughout spring and summer 2022 we are hosting a series of free on-campus and online subject taster sessions for students considering their post-16 options. In order to create a space where prospective students feel comfortable interacting with their peers and the University staff delivering the session, we only take bookings from individual students who meet the application requirements of the session. Find out more about the departments taking part and how to book below.
If you are unable to visit our campus, you might prefer an online session.

If your son/daughter is thinking of applying for medicine, then we would recommend that they attend one of the free Get into Medicine Conferences.
These conferences cover everything students need to know about the UCAS application and give them a chance to speak to Doctors and Medical School Students. They can register here: https://airtable.com/shr66li3bqG3ZpkPM
Dr Iain Kennedy leads the conference every weekend from 9:00 am - 1:30 pm to provide a comprehensive guide to the Medical School application process, including:
Interview Training
Personal Statement Advice
How to Approach the UCAS Application
Entrance Exams: BMAT and UCAT
Accessing Medical Leadership Programmes, Award Programmes, and Scholarships to Study Medicine at University
CV Building
Students also hear from recently successful applicants to Medicine. They share their insight into the application process and how to make yourself the ideal candidate.
As I’m sure you are aware, applications to study medicine are extremely competitive. Students who receive help and insider advice from Doctors and Medical School Students are equipped with the best chances of success.
Get into Medicine Conferences run every Saturday or Sunday from 9 am - 1:30 pm. The next available dates are:
Saturday 30th April
Sunday 1st May
Saturday 7th May
Sunday 8th May
Saturday 14th May

I highly recommend students attend a Get into Medicine conference as early as possible. This will give them more time to prepare for upcoming exams and perfect their application to medicine.
