A reminder that we are now able to offer the new Go4Schools app. This should make use of the system far easier, particuarly now that homework can be viewed through it. At present you can only see information regarding student timetables, homework and attendance although other information is under development.
For more information, including how to download the app, please access the flyer below:

This year’s Children’s mental health week focusing on Healthy: Inside and Out. Students will have been discussing issues such as food, sleep and staying active during their registration time this week. Click on the links below to two documents - one for children and one containing top tips for parents and carers. We would like to take this opportunity to remind all students, parents and carers that there are staff in school to talk to and every Wednesday lunchtime there is drop-in support available in The House.
At JTHS, we are fortunate, overall, to have really good attendance and parents who are supportive of the school and ensure that their children attend regularly. On a typical school day, there will be between 30-40 pupils absent through illness or other exceptional circumstance. There has, however, become an unfortunate trend of an increase of student absences on the last day before the school breaks up for either half terms or holidays. The day prior to breaking up for the Christmas Holidays saw 218 sessions absent (109 pupils absent for the day). This is nearly triple the expected amount. Although we recognise that some parents had applied for leave of absence on this day to add to a family holiday in the school holiday time, this increase is significant. Teaching continues on the last day of terms and students should be attending as usual to ensure that they are able to maximise their learning opportunities. Please could parents ensure that their children attend school regularly, including the last day of term. Should you wish to discuss any issue with your child’s attendance further, please do not hesitate to contact me on [email protected]
Many thanks
Sian Hickey- Attendance Intervention Manager
Please be advised that Year 13 Trial Examination reports have been published today. Staff have reviewed and updated your son/daughter’s Projected Grades based on the outcome of the trial examinations and progress in lessons. Students received these results on Wednesday, 6th February 2019.
We recognise that this time of year can be extremely stressful for students; as University and Apprenticeship offers are being received and important decisions are being made about the next chapter of their life. Please direct subject specific enquiries to your son/daughter’s teachers. Students who have under-performed across a number of subjects will be attending a Progress Review meeting with a member of the Sixth Form team and additional supervised study areas will be created to facilitate a more focussed approach to the summer exams. Please encourage your son/daughter to act on the advice that subjects teachers have provided both on their work and on their report.
Thank you for attending the Year 11 Post 16 Consultation Evening last week. As part of our review of the evening, we would really appreciate it if you could spare two minutes to complete a short survey about your experience and suggested improvements to the evening.
