Weekly Information - Thursday 30th September 2021
Many thanks to all those students who are continuing to use face masks on buses. As a reminder, we are recommending that students follow the Department for Education guidance that, when travelling on designated school transport, face masks are highly recommended to be worn. We would appreciate your support in this matter to help reduce the spread of any COVID infection in these situations. Students should have spare face masks in their bags for this purpose.
Every so often we receive submissions from our students, giving an insight in to their daily life and activities at JTHS. Please enjoy this latest piece about extra curricular activities from L.H, one of our Year 9 students.
Extra Curricular Activities by L.H, Form 9Y
Since Year 7 I have been enjoying extra curricular clubs.
In Year 7 I had the chance to play netball against other schools and I represented JTHS. I also joined in the show, Bugsy Malone. It was an amazing experience and I enjoyed every bit of it.
In Year 8 I loved rounders and athletics after school.
During Year 9 I have already taken part in badminton after school and enjoyed it very much.
I now have the opportunity to become a dance leader and I am very excited.
Childnet have put together a useful article about Twitch: what it is, why it's so popular, the type of content and some useful tips and advice.

On Wednesday 22nd September Year 8 Boys played their first football match as a team. The boys really impressed with a 5-2 win over Repton Prep School. Goals scored by Ethan, two from Joe, a screamer scored by Josh and finally a goal from a free kick from Ollie, tapped in by Jenson- although Ollie will still claim it as his! Some great play was seen from the whole team, including some great saves by Lucas.
The team played their second game on 29th September beating Windsor Park Middle School 11-0! What a great start boys! Keep it up!
To all Y9 Parents/Carers,
Thank you for all of your support regarding the Paris trip. Originally this trip was designed to take 70 students, however we have received over 185 applications from students eager to go. With the support of Mrs Cochrane, we are now able to expand the trip to take 110 students. This is the absolute maximum we will be able to accomodate, and the most students on any foreign trip by JTHS ever.
The list of students going on the trip will be generated via a double blind random process next week, and parents/carers will be notified shortly afterwards of the success or otherwise of your child's application. We believe this is the fairest way to allocate the places, and although we know this will leave us with many disappointed students and a long waiting list, unfortunately this cannot be avoided.
With thanks for your support and understanding,
Mr P Thompson.
