Weekly Information - Thursday 9th September 2021

  • All - 50/50 Club
  • Y12/Y13 - Sixth Form Absences

Well Done Year 7!

Our brilliant year 7's have made a fantastic start to the year. Our 7JT have now been in for over a week and have made a massively positive impression on staff and fellow students. We have embodied our school values through our actions; whether it be showing perseverance through positively completing our Lateral flow tests on their first morning, to showing kindness in supporting each other to be our personal best in our new lessons.
We are bonding in our new form groups with our team of tutors, and have been really supported by a dedicated team of sixth form student leaders who have helped us find our way from U1 to J6, to the canteen and then to bus queues. Having over twenty sixth formers turn up before 09:00 on Monday morning to help us find our way is great credit to them, and really shows as a school how we are 'one community' who work together to 'turn up, work hard and be nice'.

We finished the week with an assembly where we celebrated a massive 604 positive merits, with no negative points. Mrs Thompson's form 7R won the merit cup through earning a massive 85 merits, holding off a strong challenge from 7J, 7Y, 7O who each earnt 77 Merits. We also presented the winner of the summer school photo competition, which was won by Alfie; with Jasmine, Ryan and Amelie having their work highly commended. As head of year I would like to pass on my congratulations to all year 7's for their fabulous effort over the last week, and a massive thank you to all parents and staff for providing great support through the transition.  As a school we are excited to see our students grow over their time with us.
Have a great weekend!

All - School Communication and Go4Schools

Dear Parents/Carers,

Communication between school and parents has come a long way, with letters etc increasingly giving way to faster, multi-channel electronic communications via email and various online platforms and apps.  It is therefore very important that the school have your current email contact details and we encourage all parents to download both the Schoolzine and Go4Schools Apps.

Schoolzine App

The Schoolzine App has useful links, including the news feed, newsletters and school calendar and will also enable parents to receive messages via the App (push notifications). Please visit the link below for instructions on how to download SZapp. It is vital that you do engage with this form of communication as we do not send paper copies of any communication home and rely on these push notification as well as email.

Schoolzine app

Go4Schools

Go4Schools is our online platform whereby you can view important information regarding student timetables, homework, behaviour, attendance and student progress and reports. Information about how to log into Go4Schools can be found on this link:

Accessing Go4Schools

Go4Schools App

Again, if you have not already downloaded the Go4Schools App, there is a link below to their website where you can find details. The App should make use of the system far easier. At present you can only see information regarding student timetables, homework, attendance and behaviour, although other information is under development.

Weekly Information for Parents

We send out a weekly link to information for parents. This is normally sent on Friday each week by email and push notification to the Schoolzine App. Each message is tagged with the relevant year group, so you can navigate easily through and read only messages relevant to your child.

Parent Evening Appointments

Parents evenings will once again be completed remotely during this acadmic year using our ‘SchoolCloud’ system. Appointments will be made online by parents and you will be notified, by email and push notification, when the booking system for your child’s parents evening is open.

Website

Finally, don’t forget to regularly visit www.jths.co.uk for information, including all our latest news.  You will also find links to access the above Apps and to ParentPay.

All - Students leaving site during the school day

Students in Years 7-11 who are leaving site for appointments etc during the day must be collected by a parent.

Students should present themselves at the Data Hub where they will sign out and wait for a parent/carer to arrive, before joining the parent/carer in the main reception area. Parents/Carers will come into reception and wait for the student - students will no longer be sent out to the parent/carers car.

If the student is being collected by another adult, parents/carers must inform the school in advance who will be collecting the child. For safeguarding reasons we will not allow the student to leave school premises with another adult without prior consent. Attempting to gain consent at the time may result in a delay in the student being permitted to leave site.

Students will not be permitted to leave in a taxi alone even if this is pre-booked by a parent.

Students in Sixth Form are permitted to leave site on their own but must ensure they sign out at the Sixth Form office before doing so.

All - 50/50 Club

Dear Parents and Carers,

Please find attached a letter from the PTA regarding the 50/50 club, which raises money to support the school whilst giving you the chance to win prize money as well.  If you feel you can support it this year, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
