The deadline for Year 7 applications for September 2021 is fast approaching, and we welcome applications from students both inside and outside of our catchment area.
John Taylor High School is an OUTSTANDING school with a proven track record of providing a high quality, all rounded education for young people. We are proud of our academic record and our ranking as the 'Best Secondary School' in Staffordshire by the Real Schools Guide 2020.
Remember that if your child is currently in Year 6 in one of the JTMAT primary schools your application will be at least at criterion 4 and if JTHS is your preferred school, it should be the number one choice on your form.
Due to Covid-19 sadly we are unable to host our traditional open evening and offer open tours. Instead we hope to provide you with further information and videos very soon. Please follow the link below to complete the expression of interest form and to download our prospectus.

The deadline for applications is 31st October 2020.
All students have been provided with a lanyard which helps identify their year group to support with zones, buses and routes around school. It is imperative that students wear their lanyard at all times, including the days where they arrive at school in PE kit. We have handed out a number of replacement lanyards, at a significant cost to the school. We are now incorporating lanyards as part of our uniform, therefore students with forgotten or missing lanyards will be given a strike, as strikes for uniform issues accumulate sanctions will be enforced.
We have been requesting that, unless for exemption reasons, students wear plain masks in communal areas of the school site where social distancing is not possible. We politely request that students are sent to school with a face mask each day and a spare available, kept in a sealed bag. We have had capacity over the last half term to supply replacement face masks, once again at a significant cost to school. We ask for your support in reducing this cost by ensuring all students have a face mask and a spare.

We are pleased to announce that Ebooks are now available to all students at John Taylor via the LRC's page of the school website:
The service from Wheelers books, gives access to over 1400 titles, which are regularly updated and can be read on a phone, tablet or PC using the ePlatform app.
Students should use their network login for their username and password, ie. 000001Smith. Full details are given on the attached poster.
We hope students will make good use of this new service and continue to enjoy their reading. A "Click & Deliver" service is still available to all students currently unable to access the LRC. The "Click & Deliver" form is also available from the LRC page on the school website.
Please contact Mrs Collier on [email protected], with any queries relating to access to ebooks or the "Click & Deliver" service.

Please may we remind you that the school deadline for the submission of all outstanding UCAS applications remains Friday 23rd October. This is to allow the Sixth Form Team adequate time to fully review and proof read each application and personal statement as well as co-ordinating the input required from the school.
As there are a significant number of applications, please do not expect the form to be processed immediately. However forms will be processed in the order in which they are submitted.
Can I also ask you to remind your son/daughter that the personal statement should be checked by their tutor before the application is submitted. They should avoid sending it to multiple members of staff at the same time. Should they wish a subject specialist to also look over their statement, they should do this after acting on the general advice given by their tutor. This should be done well in advance of the deadline to ensure the process can run efficiently for everyone involved.
Many thanks.
