Thousands of people from across Burton and South Derbyshire are putting their name to a giant Christmas card in support of the country’s armed forces and in the process they are hoping to break a world record.

Staff at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas have embarked on a winter challenge, to collect 20,923 names on a Christmas card measuring 2.1 meters high and 4.5 meters wide. The signing of this card is one way to show our commitment and appreciation for those risking their lives to serve their country.

Recently, members of the Arboretum visited John Taylor to collect pupil and staff signatures on the card and the world record attempt looks set to be broken significantly.  The JT contribution amounted to 1,327 Christmas wishes to our armed forces. The card will be presented to the MoD in London on the 12th December. Look out for it on the news! It is great that we are able to contribute to such activities.
