It’s been an eventful and exciting start to the new school year for students and staff in Charnwood House! The forms have been busy coming up with new ideas on what they would like their house to be like! This has been led by the House Council, with outstanding representation from every form, and who decided that a trophy should be awarded to the form with the most merits every fortnight. The first winners were Miss Starkie’s form, C07, with Mrs Budge and Mrs Goodwin’s C09 taking the prize for the next two weeks. A special mention must go to C08 too, who currently have the most merits overall!
A vote also recently took place to decide the name for the new House Mascot – Tango the Tiger will now represent Charnwood at all official functions!
Forms had already nominated some ideas for the charity they wished the house to support this year. The House Leaders, Marya, Danielle, Kelsie and Rowena, along with James Ruttley then presented the shortlist in assembly.
After a very close run vote, we are very proud to announce that Charnwood will be supporting the Teenage Cancer Trust this year. This is a charity very close to JTHS. Locally, it has a big presence due to the fundraising of Lichfield teenager Stephen Sutton, and it is a charity also currently supporting former JTHS student, 17 year old Rhiannon Pope who is currently beginning a battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. You can find out more about the Teenage Cancer Trust at their website
Forms will now be working hard to come up with some fundraising ideas, as well as taking part in inter-form competitions, house matches, and, of course, just being generally awesome in the day to day business of being a JTHS Charnwood Student!
Next time, we will share some individual success stories, of which there have already been many, but until then you can stay up to date by following us on Instagram or Twitter: @CharnwoodJTHS #OrangeIsHere
