Welcome back Sherwood to John Taylor, and welcome to those of you that have just joined us! Firstly we want to start by saying thank you to those of you who bought a Sports Day water bottle and for those of you who constantly bought a doughnut from the doughnut sales, it really helped boost the total for our Sherwood House Charity, St Giles. We hope that this year we can raise even more money for St Giles Hospice and earn even more merits than we did last year!
For those of you who don’t know or who need a reminder, there are four Sherwood house leaders; Jordan is our Senior House Leader, Cathleen is our Deputy House Leader who is also in charge of helping with the Sherwood House Charity, Jaime is the House Leader who organizes the inter-form competitions and I am the House leader. My name is Katie and I am the Sherwood Mentor who helps out with the Anti-Bullying Committee. You will probably see us all in assemblies and when we are selling doughnuts for St Giles every Thursday in the lower link block. Doughnut sales started on the 22nd of September, they are only 50p and all the money goes towards the House Charity.
Sherwood house is also hoping to raise some money for an ex-pupil from John Taylor who was in Sherwood house for five years. 17 year old Rhiannon Pope is raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust which is an absolutely amazing cause, and not only that, Rhiannon is also donating her hair to the Princess Trust. The Teenage Cancer Trust offers so much support to young people aged between 16 – 24 ensuring the best quality care is given so that young people are treated as a young person first, and a cancer patient second. She has already raised over £1,200, which is over twice the amount of her target value. However every further donation is a huge help for the Teenage Cancer Trust, so please support this amazing charity and help us to help Rhiannon raise even more money!
