The start of the school year also means the restarting of the school PTA’s 50/50 Club. The 50/50 Club has now been running for almost 20 years and forms a large part of the fundraising work the PTA carry out to help the various departments within the school obtain the additional extras that would not normally be provided but can make a big difference to the students’ learning and enjoyment.

The 50/50 club is a simple concept of giving £1 a month which is collected annually and from this, 50p goes into the PTA funds and the remaining 50p goes into a prize fund. Each member is given a lucky number which is entered into each monthly prize draw. Last year the 50/50 Club raised £1,740 donating £870 to the PTA funds. The remaining £870 was given out in monthly prize cheques of £36 for first, £20 for second and £16.50 for third. (With one very lucky member winning five times in the year with a total prize pot of £128.50!)

Renewal forms for existing members have been sent out and new Y7 parents should have received an invitation letter to join. The 50/50 Club is open to all parents, carers and anyone within the school community and is a very simple way to support the school’s fundraising and at the same time have a chance of winning monthly prize cheques. IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN IN. Prize draws are made within the PTA meetings so the draws for September, October and November will all take place at the next meeting of the PTA on 16 November 2016. If you would like to join please complete and return the form which is available from the school office or can be found on the school website under “School Life : PTA : 50/50 Flyer” or alternatively contact Heather West directly via email at who will be able to provide you with all the information you will need.

We have only had a few new members join so far this year so please do support us if you can so we can then help support your child.
