If you’re looking for ideas for the best reads to get stuck into over the holidays… look no further. We’d like all pupils to read at least ‘6 books for Summer’ one for each week of the holiday!

There have been plenty of book awards for young people going on this year and here are their shortlists:

The Carnegie Medal 2016 was won this year by Sarah Crossan’s incredible story of conjoined twins, One.  Other highly recommended titles on the shortlist are Lies We Tell Ourselves by Robin Talley, The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness, There Will Be Lies by Nick Lake, Fire Colour One by Jenny Valentine, Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick, and the Costa book award-winning The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge.

The pupils from Bookback Feedback who meet on Fridays have been avidly reading the Staffordshire Young Teen Fiction Award shortlist, attended the Celebration Day at RAF Cosford on Tuesday 5th July. We will have a report from them in the next edition of J T News.
