It has been a successful year again for members of Needwood House. We are used to celebrating our successes at school each term but for this issue I would like to highlight some of the outstanding things pupils in Needwood are doing outside of lessons and school. Just a quick look across the year groups we see Joe Cheatle being the Burton league’s top goal scorer with 17 goals playing for Rolleston. Rumaana Shafiq and Elizabeth Kaufmann have both been nominated student of the month in PE. Mrs Harvey has told Ella Fossett that she will play county football for Staffordshire next season. Molly Fuller raised the most money for Muscular Dystrophy in the N12; £20 by helping out friends and family. (The form raised £50 as a whole.) Zara Leppington completed a four-jump course in horse riding. Louisa Morris has won a school creative writing competition with the Scribblers Club (see P4). Sadie Hayes (photo right from a recent competition in Wales), now skates for NISA (National Ice Skating Association) and trains at Cannock, Solihull and Coventry. Isabel Dixon is a member of the English Youth Ballet and will is performing in Giselle, at the Theatre Royal Nottingham from 22nd July. Music producer Nathan Richardson in N02 has had one of his excellent tracks played on BBC Radio’s Introducing station. The track is called Cancun and can be heard at soundcloud.com/nathanrson/cancun Go and have a listen.
Wow! What a lot of talent and hard work going on in Needwood House. I would love to hear more about what Needwood Knights get up to outside of school and over the summer and share these with you next issue. Until then dig in.
