We are up and running after exams and are now back into the swing of things.
We have restarted the inter-form competitions with only a few more forms left to play. As well as this, over the year there has been some amazing fundraising events going on, for example there has been afternoon tea events, bake sales, fantasy football, Marchington marathons and too many other things to mention.
I hope you are all sorted for sports day and are ready to wear your house’s colours with pride, where there will also be some opportunities to support our house charities; Water Aid and Burtie (Queen’s Hospital Children’s Ward). So far this year we as have raised £775 as a house, which is fab! The school year isn’t quite over yet, so if there is any money not yet handed in or any last minute fundraising events, now is the time to do it.
Also, as you are all aware, next year we are moving from four houses to six and in doing so we will be saying goodbye to one of our house leaders, Marya Bano, who has been so positive and helpful in everything we have done and will definitely be missed by the whole of Marchington. We will also be saying goodbye to Lucy Davenhill, who is leaving to start an apprenticeship in dental nursing! However, we have two new members joining the team, Lauren Wood and Lizzie Berriman and we look forward to sharing their exciting ideas with you all soon!
Congratulations to Y9 student, Summer Seager-Coles who, as a member of Walsall Dance Academy, had the amazing opportunity to dance for the Queen. She said
“I had a fantastic time dancing for the Queen’s 90th birthday at the patrons lunch; this was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I will never forget.“
