On the 2nd February we went to Fenton Manor sports complex in Stoke to participate in the Talent Inspiration Programme. This programme is for athletes who perform at regional or national level in Staffordshire to come together to see what it’s like to be a professional athlete for a day.

We were both nominated by Mrs Berry to do the Talent Inspiration Programme as we both represent England Under 16’s for rounders this upcoming season.

The day consisted of having an inspirational session on how to develop our own performance and being a role model for Y7 and 8s at the Sainsbury’s Level 3 winter school games by meeting them and handing out the medals to the top three teams at the end of the school games alongside GB Olympian athlete Christian Malcombe.

In addition to handing out the medals with Christian Malcombe, everybody participating in the Talent Inspiration programme got a chance to meet him and talk to him about his career in athletics.

Finally there was a media session where we got asked numerous questions from ‘what’s your favourite film?’ to ‘how did you get the chance to represent England?’

It was a great day to be involved in and we hope we inspired the Y7 and Y8s who took part in the Sainsbury’s Level 3 Winter games in Stoke to do their best in sport and achieve the opportunity to represent England.
