We politely remind parents and carers to read the JT MAT and JTHS Attendance Information relating to leave of absence. This will only be authorised in Exceptional Circumstances. All requests for Leave of Absence should be sent to the Attendance Officer.
Thank you to all those who have donated so far to support our DEAR initiative in school, we are well on our way to meeting our current target. If you are able to support this very important initiative then the details are given below.
To help support our DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) scheme started in school in September 2019, we have registered for the fundraising initiative Support Your School run by Peters Bookselling Services in Birmingham. The aim of our campaign is to support the extra demand placed on the LRC stock, by asking parents and local business to donate funds to help keep that stock as up to date and appealing as possible to our students at JTHS. We would be extremely grateful of any funds that you feel able to donate to help support this important initiative and encourage our students to access the best fiction available, to enhance and develop their invaluable reading skills. If you are able to help this invaluable initiative please use the following link:

Many thanks for your support.
Sixth Form dress is an important part of the School's image. As a public institution we need to project an image appropriate to the work we do and, as senior members of the School, the Sixth Form are an important part of that image. The respect that an institution earns from the public it serves is, in part, due to the appearance of its members. It is therefore in the students' own interests to adhere to acceptable standards of appearance because they will ultimately benefit by association with a respected establishment. In addition, it is important that the senior members of the School provide a positive role model for the lower school in terms of smart appropriate dress.
As the senior members of the school community, Sixth Formers do not need to wear formal uniform. However, as preparation for the workplace and as older role models in the school they are expected to adhere to the school’s dress code. School dress should be reasonable, decent, modest and practical. All Sixth Form students agree to the Dress Code as part of the Home School Agreement

Y9 Options Evening is on Thursday 28th November, 6.00-8.30pm. We hope all Y9 students and parents will be able to attend this informative evening which will help with students' subject choices as they move into Key Stage 4.
Some subjects will provide a display in the LRC. However, some Curriculum Area Leaders will be giving brief presentations (7-8min) in classrooms at different times during the evening.
We are requesting that parents book appointments for these as it will allow us to spread out over a larger area and will give students and parents an opportunity to browse and ask questions in a more relaxed atmosphere.
Pupils have already been handed a form on which they can choose up to four subject presentations. Please remind your son/daughter to return their form for processing as soon as possible. Once these have been booked, pupils will be given a further letter with the timings of these presentations and further details about the options process.
Year 7 Outward Bound Aberdovey – 28th February – 1st March
Please note we have scheduled a parent’s information evening for the Outward Bound trip for Tuesday 19th November 2019 at 6pm in the school hall. You will be asked to fill out an enrolment form, sign a code of conduct and note a dormitory request during the meeting so please do bring a pen and medical details for the child’s GP.
I look forward to meeting you all.
Many thanks, Mr Simmons
