On Monday 25th February, all year groups received an assembly which explained our new 'Behaviour for Learning' focus and procedures which will be introduced with immediate effect. The hope is for us to foster a very positive culture within school that encourages all members of our school community to consider how the way that they behave may influence the behaviour of others. We are also aiming to celebrate this positive behaviour more consistently.
You may have already experienced aspects of this via a 'WOW!' email or praise postcard. Hopefully your children have noticed a change in other ways and may be able to talk to you about them or the assembly. For your information, the slides used in those assemblies are included below:
At Friday’s production of Grease, there will be a cake sale during the interval, in aid of St Giles Hospice.
Donations of cakes for this sale would be most appreciated.
Cakes may be taken to Miss Bale in U20 at any time, but please NO fresh cream (due to lack of refrigerated storage) and NO cakes containing NUTS (we are a Nut Free School).
The week commencing 4th March, is National Careers Week.
We've included links to useful sites on careers and apprenticeships.
Here is some advice for parents on how to keep children safe
Would parents of Y13 History students please remind them that the final NEA History deadline is Friday 15th March?
Year 12 Apprenticeship and Higher Education Evening March 13th 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
The Apprenticeship and Higher Education evening is an important event to support Year 12 students' Post 18 applications and we strongly recommend that all parents and students attend. It will take place on Wednesday March 13th, 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
All parents will attend a practical workshop where they will be issued with a login so that they can support their son/daughter in researching and applying to either university or apprenticeships using UniFrog. In addition to this workshop, parents will be able to choose three further workshops to attend on the evening. These will be offered on the following subjects:
- The University Central Admissions Service (UCAS),
- Writing a Competitive Personal Statement
- Introduction to Student Finance
- Supporting your child in applying to Oxford or Cambridge University
To confirm your attendance and to select your preferred workshops, please complete a short survey https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/6GNBTSX by March 6th.
Once you have selected your preferred workshops, a timetable for the evening will be e-mailed to you and a copy will be provided on arrival. Workshops will commence at 6.00pm, 6.30pm, 7.00pm and 7.30pm and will last approximately 20-25 minutes.
Y10 Parents Evening will take place on Tuesday, 12th March, 2019 from 4.30-7.30pm.
This will be an opportunity for parents to discuss progress with their child's subject teachers. Parents will have received an email link to the online booking system.
The link below has been sent to Parents of Y10 pupils. Please read this important information before making online appointments for Science, English, and Maths.
For your information, during one of the Year 7 Maths lessons next week, pupils will be completing a questionnaire on Maths Anxiety and their feelings towards Maths. This is to support student research at the University of Derby. Nothing needs to be done in preparation and it should only take around 10 minutes to complete. We will be informed of any findings from the survey which will be useful for us moving forward. All responses are anonymous.
All Year 7 students will have a calculator test in their Maths lesson on Tuesday 12th March. Students must have their own calculator; these are available to purchase on Parentpay if needed. Revision lists will be provided by teachers, along with suggestions of resources that students could use to help them prepare for this test.
